Air Force veteran who fled charges in the US is now on the “most difficult combat missions”

The Airman, who fled the US after being charged with possession of child pornography, is now serving in another country’s armed forces and serving overseas.

Wilmer Puello-Mota, an Air Force veteran and former elected city council member in Massachusetts, was expected to enter a guilty plea in Rhode Island but never showed up to court.

He allegedly boarded a flight from Washington, D.C., to Istanbul, Turkey, the day before his court date in January 2024.

“He said, ‘I joined the Russian army,’ or something like that,” his lawyer told media outlets at the time. “I thought he was joking.”

“I’m sure he joined the Russian army because he didn’t want to register as a sex offender,” he added.

On Monday, a post to telegram alleges he is currently operating drones for the Russian army.

“A former American citizen, now a Russian serviceman with the call sign “Boston”, is serving as a reconnaissance drone operator in a UAV platoon,” it stated.

“The team accepted him and entrusts him with the most difficult combat missions,” it added.

The post also contained a video of Puello-Mota criticizing the U.S. government’s fiscal policy.

“Our country is trillions of dollars in debt, our country is collapsing, it’s falling apart,” he said.

“I think that the people who caused this in my country should be held responsible for what they’ve done,” he added.
