Air Force personnel were ambushed while providing security at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) in Texas.
Around 4:30 on Saturday morning, at the main gate of the Chapman Training Annex, Airmen were ambushed by gunfire.
The Airmen said that they could hear rounds being fired and bullets whizzing by them, according to San Antonio Police.
Police say the Airmen came under attack again just after 5:00 a.m. when a sedan stopped on Medina Base Road, East of the entrance gate, and shot at them.
During this attack, Air Force personnel returned fire toward the suspect vehicle, according to Fox San Antonio.
Base officials state the shooters are not believed to be military-affiliated.

The main gate was closed and more security personnel were added but it has since reopened.
No service members or military personnel were injured in the incident.
