The 45th president of the U.S. played a military video during his campaign rally last night that is sure to gain support and stir up some controversy.
During his rally in Scranton, Pennsylvania he played a video which contained portions of Stanley Kuberick’s 1987 film, “Full Metal Jacket,” with clips of servicemembers on TikTok.
Before playing the video, it showed his “military compared to the very woke military that we have now,’
“You’ll get a kick out of it,” he added.
The video featured clips from the Navy Yeoman 2nd Class Joshua Kelley’s TikTok with scenes from the film about Vietnam War-era Marines.
Kelly, who goes by the stage name “Harpy Daniels,” has over 1,300,000 likes on TikTok has over 1,300,000 likes on TikTok.
In November 2022, he announced he was the Navy’s “Digital Ambassador.”
The Navy hoped using him as their ambassador would boost recruitment but ended up abandoning their efforts last year.
The video also briefly featured, Rachel Levine (born Richard Leland Levine), an army physician who is the current administration’s assistant secretary of health.

The Daily Beast, which is known for its left-leaning political commentary, was quick to point out what was left out of the video.
“The brief excerpts of the 1987 movie…featured prominently…in-your-face commands at the marines-in-training,” their article stated.
“Not included in the video package, though, was Hartman’s fate: being shot to death by a recruit he often mocked, who in turn kills himself.”
The article referred to Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, played by actor R. Lee Ermey, being killed by Private Pyle during the film.
Kubrick, the film’s director, was known for his criticism of the Vietnam War and the social and political structures that sent people to fight in wars.
