Only three percent of the Army is made up of Warrant Officers but they are the most highly specialized experts and trainers in their field.
Enlisted soldiers can apply to become Warrant Officers and receive better pay and privileges similar to those of a commissioned Officer.
That is exactly what one Army sergeant, who was just pinned with the rank of Warrant Officer 1 did.
Currently, an Army Sergeant (E-5) earns a base pay of $34,446.40 for less than two years of service, and $43,221.60 for six years of service.
But an Army Warrant Officer 1 (WO1) earns a base salary between $40,000 and $56,000, depending on their experience.
Then-Army Sergeant Kayla Burch, a World champion pole dancer, applied and was selected to train to become a Warrant Officer.
In 2021, she became a world champion after placing first place in the senior elite double female/female category at Pole Art Italy, an International Pole Sports Federation event.
She also became a German champion after winning the ODPS German Pole Sport Championship – Elite Doubles Sport Woman/Woman and Mixed Doubles.
While stationed in Germany, she trained and worked at Zero Gravity Pole in Baumholder.
Baumholder is home to the United States Army Garrison (USAG) Baumholder, also known as “the Rock.”
At the end of last month, Burch graduated from U.S. Army Warrant Officer Career College in Class 24-25 “NAVY BLUE SUBZEROS” at Fort Novosel, Alabama.
During a ceremony on September 24th, Sergeant Burch was pinned with the rank of Army Warrant Officer 1.
The Army has numerous career fields for warrant officers, such as Cyber Warfare Technician, Helicopter Pilot, and even Human Resources Technician.
More information is available here, for active-duty, Army Reserve, or Army National Guard, soldiers who are interested in becoming a warrant officer.
