A soldier has grabbed the attention of hundreds of thousands of people for the gift she received from a fellow non-commisioned officer.
The soldiers, who both appear to be serving in the Army National Guard, recorded a joke about one of their boyfriends being of a different color than them and it was viewed over 1.8 million times.
“We don’t discriminate in the military,” the Army sergeant wrote.
The sergeant says she bought her friend, an Army corporal, a pair of shorts that say, “I love Black guys,” on them.
The sergeant, who describes herself as Laotian, recorded the corporal’s reaction to receiving the shorts as a present.
Upon seeing them, she burst into laughter and the sergeant showed a picture of her with her boyfriend who appears to be a Black American.
Neither NCO went on to give more detail about her race preferences or to state if she is romantically involved with numerous “Black guys” or just the one in the picture.
As the sergeant stated, the military has an antidiscrimination policy, but it is unclear if stating that you love people of a specific race in a social media video violates that policy.
During the video, the two National Guard NCOs can be seen wearing the patch for the 404th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, which is part of the Illinois Army National Guard.
Update: The sergeant, who goes by @justliftsis on TikTok, removed the video after our story was published.

“All members are entitled to serve in an environment free from discrimination and sexual harassment,” the Illinois National Guard says.
The 404th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade was recently assigned to support the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
