An Army officer was surprisingly allowed to stay in the military after being convicted of drug-related charges, according to Army documents.
1st Lieutenant Kamdem Weiss seemed to have trouble adjusting to life in Alaska while assigned to the 25th Brigade Support Battalion.
In 2022, Weiss allegedly asked a fellow Army officer to “come trip on shrooms” and offered him the drug for free.
A few months later, he allegedly paid a civilian for three ounces of Psilocybin, aka “magic mushrooms,” which are a Schedule I substance under the Controlled Substances Act.
At the same time, Weiss also paid for “20 tabs of LSD” to the same unnamed dealer somewhere near Fairbanks, Alaska.
Three weeks after the deal was made, he told another 1st Lieutenant, who said he wanted to “party hard here bruh…Like hard hard,” he would send him a sheet of LSD for $1,000.
The next month, Weiss went back to the dealer and paid him for another illegal psychedelic drug, known as Dimethyltryptamine or DMT.
The Army says he dealt these drugs to soldiers of all ranks, including an Army specialist (E-4) who became hospitalized -seemingly from the drugs.
In January of 2023, Weiss allegedly took an Army specialist to his personal residence, took pictures with firearms, and drove them to a bar.
Two days later, he allegedly asked the specialist to delete all records of their communication after they were hospitalized.
After accepting a plea agreement, the Army dismissed many of the charges made against him.
Weiss was found guilty of using Psilocybin, possessing Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), and distributing Psilocybin and LSD.
In October of 2023, he was sentenced to six months (180 days) of confinement and to forfeit $2500 pay per month for 6 months.
The Salty Soldier was not able to determine where he is currently assigned within the Army but he was expected to be released from confinement sometime this past Spring.
