Fort Bragg soldier charged with kidnapping minor for the purpose of sex

A Fort Bragg soldier is facing serious felony charges after authorities in Aberdeen alleged he attempted to solicit a minor. The Aberdeen Police Department reported that on January 26, 2025, officers received a report regarding a missing juvenile.

As the investigation unfolded, police identified 20-year-old Dustin Ray Goodroe as a person of interest, suspecting that he had engaged in explicit online conversations with the minor and attempted to solicit her for sex.

With the assistance of the Moore County Sheriff’s Office investigators and Fort Bragg’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Goodroe was taken into custody on February 14, 2025. According to records from the Moore County Jail, he was charged with solicitation of a minor by computer device for an unlawful sexual act and first-degree kidnapping.

A warrant related to the kidnapping charge stated that Goodroe unlawfully removed the victim for the purpose of subjecting her to sexual servitude.

Authorities stated that the arrest resulted from a detailed investigation launched after the juvenile was reported missing.

The Aberdeen Police Department, in collaboration with the Army CID and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, conducted searches and interviews that ultimately led to obtaining warrants for Goodroe’s arrest.

The Moore County Sheriff’s Office also secured warrants for his first-degree kidnapping charge.

Following his arrest, Goodroe was placed under a $150,000 secured bond at the Moore County Detention Center.

His initial court appearance took place on February 17, where he was appointed legal representation. His next scheduled court date is set for February 26, 2025, in Moore County court.
