A 24-year-old Fort Cavazos soldier is in custody on a first-degree felony charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child, stemming from an alleged incident that occurred before or shortly after he joined the military.
Marco Antonio Perez remains in the Bell County Jail as of Friday, facing charges related to the sexual assault of a child under the age of 14.
According to a Bell County records spokesperson, the arrest was made on a warrant issued in Harris County, which alleges the assaults took place in 2019.
Jail records indicate Perez was taken into custody by military police at “Fort Hood,” the former name of Fort Cavazos on February 15.
He is being held on a $175,000 bond.
Records also show that Perez enlisted in the military the same year the alleged crime occurred.
