Newly obtained court records provide the first public details regarding the aggravated child molestation charge filed against a Fort Stewart soldier arrested in Coffee County earlier this month.
According to an arrest warrant obtained by The Salty Soldier, investigators allege that Tyrone Barry Carter, 24, committed an act of aggravated child molestation against a child under the age of 10 between Jan. 1, 2016, and Dec. 31, 2017, at a residence in Douglas, Georgia.

The warrant alleges Carter engaged in sexual conduct involving a child, conduct investigators classified as aggravated child molestation under Georgia law. The Salty Soldier is withholding identifying information related to the alleged child victim.
The allegations contained in the warrant have not been proven in court, and Carter is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Coffee County investigators arrested Carter on May 15 after coordinating with officials at Fort Stewart, where he was serving as an active-duty soldier assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division. The arrest followed an investigation that authorities said began after deputies responded to a complaint on Feb. 10, 2026.
Booking records obtained by The Salty Soldier show Carter was booked into the Coffee County Jail on May 15 at approximately 11:24 a.m. on a single count of aggravated child molestation. Jail records indicate bond was denied.
Court records obtained by The Salty Soldier currently reflect a single criminal count tied to an alleged offense date in 2017, while the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office previously stated investigators were examining allegations spanning from 2017 through 2026 involving multiple alleged victims. The court filings reviewed by The Salty Soldier do not indicate whether additional allegations referenced by investigators remain under investigation or could result in future charges.
It remains unclear whether investigators intend to pursue additional charges related to other alleged victims referenced by the sheriff’s office or whether additional allegations remain under investigation.
The Salty Soldier has submitted an open records request with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office seeking additional records related to the allegations.
The Salty Soldier will continue follow-up reporting on the case as additional court filings and investigative records become available.
