A 10th Mountain Division noncommissioned officer who previously competed at the division level has been sentenced at a general court-martial for child pornography offenses, according to official Army records.
Sergeant First Class Adriel G. Eckart, assigned to the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), was convicted on March 31, 2026, at Fort Drum, New York. The case was heard by a military judge in a general court-martial under the 1st Judicial Circuit.
Eckart pleaded guilty to two specifications of possession and two specifications of distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in violation of Article 134, UCMJ.
The military judge sentenced him to 30 months of confinement and a dishonorable discharge. The sentence was consistent with a plea agreement.
Prior to his court-martial, Eckart had been publicly identified in Army media as a Staff Sergeant assigned to 10th Mountain Division Artillery (DIVARTY), where he served as a cannon crewmember. In 2024, he competed in the division’s Soldier and Noncommissioned Officer of the Year competition at Fort Drum—a process familiar across the force that evaluates NCOs on physical fitness, tactical knowledge, and performance before a formal board.
By 2025, Eckart had advanced to Sergeant First Class and was serving as an ammunition NCO within DIVARTY, 10th Mountain Division.
Division-level NCO competitions are designed to identify top-performing leaders within the formation, often highlighting those viewed as among the most competent and prepared within their units.
Eckart’s conviction marks a sharp departure from that trajectory, resulting in a federal-level military conviction and a punitive discharge from the Army.
The Salty Soldier has requested court records from the Army and is awaiting a response. No additional details about the underlying offenses or Eckart’s place of confinement have been publicly released.
