Officials from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JB MDL) in New Jersey have announced the death of Tech. Sgt. Antoine Simmons, a member of the 87th Security Forces Squadron, who passed away while attending training in Texas.
According to a statement from the base, Simmons suffered a medical emergency and was pronounced dead at approximately 5 p.m. on Tuesday at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.
Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, located in Burlington County, New Jersey, is one of the largest military installations on the East Coast, supporting missions for the Air Force, Army, and Navy. The 87th Security Forces Squadron, to which Simmons belonged, is responsible for base law enforcement, security operations, and force protection for the installation and its personnel.

Simmons had been married since January 22, 2016, and had children with his wife, according to his social media accounts.
While the Air Force has not publicly released his home of record, his online presence suggests he was from the Atlanta area. His social media also includes photos from a 2012 deployment to the Middle East.
The circumstances surrounding his death have not yet been disclosed.
“We are heartbroken by the loss of Tech. Sgt. Simmons, and our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and teammates during this difficult time,” said Col. Anthony Smith, commander of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and the 87th Air Base Wing. “The impact of this loss is felt across our entire JB MDL community, reminding us of the profound bond we share in service. We remain steadfast in our commitment to supporting those affected as we honor their dedication and sacrifice.”
A spokesperson for the base stated that additional details will be provided as they become available.
