Soldier who died while trying to evade police officer near Fort Cavazos has been identified

The 20-year-old Fort Cavazos (formerly Fort Hood) soldier who died after fleeing from police in the early on the morning of November 17 has been identified.

According to the Killeen Police Department, officers responded to a call about a disturbance involving weapons at the parking lot shared by BluPrint Lounge and Spadez Club around 5:00 a.m. When officers arrived, they found that the BluPrint Lounge was closed, and the altercation had taken place in the parking lot outside the venue.

As police investigated, one of the suspects, U.S. Army Pvt. Davin Bostock fled the scene in a 2017 red Chevrolet Camaro, prompting officers to pursue the vehicle. Shortly after, police discovered the Camaro crashed in the 100 block of South Twin Creek Drive, after it left the roadway during the chase.

According to a preliminary investigation, the vehicle struck a utility pole, then jumped over railroad tracks before coming to a stop. The driver, later identified as the soldier, was pronounced dead at the scene around 5:30 a.m.

Pvt. Davin Bostock was a fire control specialist assigned to the 3rd Field Artillery Battalion, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division.

“First Cavalry Division is deeply saddened by the loss of Pvt. Davin Deshun Bostock, and our thoughts and condolences are with the trooper’s family and friends,” a statement from the 1st Cavalry Division stated. “Unit leaders are in full support and communicating with them during this difficult time.”

Investigation Ongoing

The Killeen Police Department has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash, including the events leading up to the police pursuit. It remains unclear whether the soldier was directly involved in the initial altercation or if he was simply a suspect.

Although the BluPrint Lounge is not currently listed as a restricted location for military personnel, such restrictions can be imposed by the military at any time based on safety concerns or incidents involving soldiers. Restrictions may apply to certain venues, including bars and clubs, especially when there are concerns about alcohol-related misconduct or violent incidents.
