The senior noncommissioned officer, assigned to Fort Novosel (formerly Fort Rucker), who was arrested in July on charges related to producing child pornography, has waived his right to a hearing.
Command Sgt. Maj. (CSM) Joshua Warren Prescott, 41, the enlisted leader of 1st Battalion, 223rd Aviation Regiment, was arrested in Coffee County, Alabama, on one charge for producing media involving a minor in “obscene actions,” and another count of possession of child pornography.
After his arrest on July 18, he posted a $35,000 bond for the “production of obscene matter containing visual depiction or a person under the age of 17 involved in obscene acts” charge and a
$15,000 bond for the “possession of child porn” charge.
On Monday, CSM Prescott waived his right to a hearing and opted to forward his case to a Coffee County Grand Jury.
According to the Army, he has been suspended from command while an investigation into his arrest is conducted, a local newspaper, the Donthan Eagle, reports.
1st Battalion, 223d Aviation Regiment is organized into three line companies, an HHC, and an Army air ambulance detachment “FLATIRON.”
The battalion’s mission is to coordinate and conduct flight instruction and operations at Cairns Army Airfield, Knox Army Heliport, and Shell Army Heliport to provide the Army with professionally trained CH-47 aviators.
The Army lists Lt. Col. Thomas Jefferson (T.J.) Menn as the battalion’s current commander but lists the Command Sergeant Major position as “vacant.”
CSM Prescott replaced CSM Andrew Duerksen in May and was arrested less than a month late.
