FORT KNOX, Ky. — A U.S. Army captain assigned to Fort Knox and formerly a company commander within the 1st Theater Sustainment Command was sentenced to 180 days of confinement after pleading guilty at a special court-martial to conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman.
According to Army Trial Judiciary records, CPT Koty M. Caldwell was convicted on May 19, 2026, by Military Judge COL Scott A. Oravec at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Caldwell pleaded guilty before a military judge sitting alone.
The Army reported that Caldwell was convicted of one specification of conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman in violation of Article 133 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. The military judge sentenced him to 180 days of confinement and a reprimand. Army officials stated the sentence was consistent with the terms of a plea agreement.
Publicly available records indicate Caldwell previously served as an operations officer with the 1st Theater Sustainment Command before becoming commander of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Special Troops Battalion, 1st Theater Sustainment Command, at Fort Knox. More recently, he identified himself as a planning officer assigned to Fort Knox.
Court records obtained by The Salty Soldier show the case originally included a significantly broader set of allegations than the single offense that resulted in conviction.

According to the charge sheet, Caldwell was accused of unlawfully kissing an enlisted Soldier on the lips and cheek between May and June 2023, resulting in a charge of assault consummated by a battery under Article 128, UCMJ.
The charge sheet also alleged that Caldwell engaged in conduct unbecoming an officer by sending sexually suggestive photographs of himself to enlisted personnel.
Additionally, prosecutors charged Caldwell with multiple specifications of sexual harassment under Article 134, UCMJ. Those allegations accused him of knowingly engaging in conduct of a sexual nature by sending sexually suggestive photographs of himself to enlisted Soldiers during various periods between 2023 and 2024. The specifications alleged the conduct was unwelcome and created an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment.
The charging documents further included a fraternization specification alleging Caldwell violated Army customs by fraternizing with an enlisted person on terms of military equality.
Despite those allegations appearing on the charge sheet, the Army’s published court-martial results reflect a conviction only for a single Article 133 specification. The published results do not identify the disposition of the remaining allegations.
Notably, the charge sheet released to The Salty Soldier contained a substantial redaction that appears to obscure an entire charge or specification. In correspondence accompanying the records, the Office of Special Trial Counsel stated that one charge had been dismissed before trial. However, the Army did not identify the UCMJ article associated with the redacted allegation.
The redaction is unusual because the released charge sheet otherwise identifies the remaining allegations in detail while withholding what appears to be an entire charge or specification.
The case was prosecuted under the jurisdiction of the 1st Theater Sustainment Command and heard by the Army’s 3rd Judicial Circuit at Fort Knox.
