New court records reveal defense claims alleged rape victim was advised to bring adult toys to meeting with Military Police NCO

A Fort Riley Military Police staff sergeant accused of rape in Kansas is once again at the center of new court developments after recently filed records revealed additional details about witness testimony connected to the case.

Staff Sgt. Roland Joseph Dore Jr., 35, was formally charged Jan. 2, 2026, in Geary County District Court with one count of rape and one count of sexual battery stemming from an alleged sexual assault reported in Junction City on Dec. 21, 2025.

The case initially drew widespread attention because Dore had been publicly recognized only months earlier as one of the Military Police Corps’ top-performing noncommissioned officers.

In September 2025, Dore was honored at Fort Leonard Wood as a recipient of the Regimental Command Sergeant Major James W. Frye Noncommissioned Officer of Excellence Award — one of the highest distinctions within the Military Police Corps. Previous reporting by The Salty Soldier also identified social media images appearing to show Dore deployed in Afghanistan wearing relaxed combat attire associated with Special Forces operating environments.

Now, months after the story largely faded from public attention, newly filed court records are shedding additional light on witness testimony and events surrounding the alleged encounter.

According to a defense filing submitted May 7, attorneys representing Dore are seeking to preserve testimony from a witness identified as Cole Wilson before he potentially deploys overseas with the military.

The filing describes Wilson as a “material witness” who was allegedly living with the woman identified in court records only as “S.C.” at the time prosecutors say the incident occurred.

Defense attorneys wrote that Wilson knew the alleged victim planned to meet Dore on the night of Dec. 21 and further claimed she later informed police that Wilson advised her to bring adult items to the meeting.

According to the filing, Wilson also reportedly interacted with the alleged victim immediately after she returned from meeting Dore and later transported her to the police department.

The filing does not provide additional context for those claims, and prosecutors have not publicly responded to the allegations outlined by the defense.

Court records show Wilson’s name has been connected to the case since the beginning. The original criminal complaint filed Jan. 2 listed him among potential witnesses alongside multiple Junction City police officers, a SANE/SART nurse, medical records custodians, and evidence technicians.

A Kansas Standard Offense Report previously obtained by The Salty Soldier identified Wilson as a 27-year-old male connected to the investigation. The report listed the alleged victim as a 24-year-old woman and documented allegations of rape and sexual battery reported to Junction City Police on Dec. 21, 2025.

According to the criminal complaint, prosecutors allege Dore engaged in nonconsensual sexual intercourse accomplished through force or fear and committed nonconsensual sexual touching intended to satisfy sexual desire.

Dore was arrested shortly after midnight on Dec. 22, 2025, and booked into the Geary County Detention Facility before later securing release on a $50,000 surety bond.

The latest filing also suggests the defense is concerned Wilson may become unavailable before future court proceedings.

According to defense attorneys, Wilson recently informed a defense investigator there was “a problem” with his ability to comply with a subpoena because he expects to deploy to Europe before the scheduled June 5 preliminary hearing.

The filing states Wilson could remain overseas for approximately nine months and that deployment flights may begin this month, potentially placing him outside the reach of Kansas subpoenas during critical stages of the criminal proceedings.

On May 8, Geary County District Judge Courtney D. Craver approved the defense request in an agreed order signed by both prosecutors and defense attorneys.

The order authorizes Wilson’s testimony to be preserved through a recorded deposition and specifically permits video recording of the session. Dore is also required to be physically present during the deposition.

A subsequent filing schedules the deposition for May 20 at the Geary County Attorney’s Office in Junction City.

The witness deposition marks the second major evidentiary development publicly disclosed in the case.

Earlier court filings revealed that separate video evidence tied to the alleged assault had already been placed under a court-ordered protective seal. According to that filing, the footage captured “acts and circumstances underlying the charges,” prompting both prosecutors and defense attorneys to jointly request restrictions on its disclosure.

Under the protective order, the footage cannot be publicly disseminated, and even the defendant is prohibited from personally possessing copies outside the supervision of counsel.

Neither Fort Riley nor the Army has publicly disclosed whether Dore has been suspended, reassigned, flagged for separation, or subjected to military administrative action following his arrest.

As with all criminal cases, the charges against Dore are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

The case remains active, with additional hearings and testimony expected in the coming weeks.
