Newly obtained court records show that a 10th Mountain Division noncommissioned officer engaged in repeated misconduct over a period of months following his participation in a division-level competition.
Sergeant First Class Adriel G. Eckart was convicted on March 31, 2026, at a general court-martial at Fort Drum after pleading guilty to multiple violations of Article 134, UCMJ. He was sentenced to 30 months of confinement and a dishonorable discharge.
Earlier in 2024, Eckart was featured in Army media as a Staff Sergeant competing in the 10th Mountain Division’s Noncommissioned Officer of the Year competition—an event meant to identify the unit’s top-performing NCOs.
According to the charge sheet obtained by The Salty Soldier, the misconduct began later that year.
The document alleges Eckart possessed and viewed child sexual abuse material (CSAM) between December 2024 and March 2025 while at or near Fort Drum, New York. During that same period, he also distributed the material using a Discord account.
The activity continued months later.
Additional specifications allege that between July 1 and July 31, 2025, Eckart again possessed, viewed, and distributed the material—this time using a Snapchat account.
During that same timeframe, Eckart had advanced within the formation.
Army imagery from June 2025 identifies him as Sgt. 1st Class Adriel Eckart, ammunition NCO for Division Artillery, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry)—a senior noncommissioned officer role within the unit’s fires headquarters.
Division Artillery, or DIVARTY, serves as the brigade-level headquarters responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing fires across subordinate artillery battalions.
Taken together, the timeline shows alleged misconduct spanning from late 2024 into mid-2025—covering a period in which Eckart moved from a Staff Sergeant competing at the division level to a Sergeant First Class serving in a senior DIVARTY position.
The charge sheet indicates the conduct occurred across multiple platforms, including Discord and Snapchat, and was not confined to a single incident.
It does not specify when the activity was first detected or when the command became aware of it.
According to information provided by the U.S. Army Office of Special Trial Counsel, Eckart is currently being held at a local confinement facility in upstate New York and is designated for transfer to the Northwestern Joint Regional Correctional Facility at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
Eckart ultimately pleaded guilty to a reduced number of specifications as part of a plea agreement.
