US Army offers reward after officer found dead in Honduran River—still no arrests a month later

Nearly a month after U.S. Army Black Hawk pilot 1st Lt. Marciano Angelo Parisano was found dead in a Honduran river, no arrests have been made — and now the Army is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to a conviction.

Parisano, 25, was a West Point graduate from Cibolo, Texas, assigned to the 1st Battalion, 228th Aviation Regiment at Soto Cano Air Base. He was deployed with Joint Task Force-Bravo in Comayagua, Honduras, where he served as a UH-60 Black Hawk pilot.

He had been reported missing on May 2 after a night out with friends at a local bar. According to close friend Brayden Smith, the group got into a confrontation with another party at the club. Parisano reportedly called a taxi to return to base — but he never made it back.

Body Found After Grass Fire Leads to Discovery

The following afternoon, around 2 p.m. on May 3, local firefighters responding to a grass fire near the Chiquito River were alerted by a citizen who had spotted a body in the water. The remains were later confirmed to be Lt. Parisano.

Shortly after, Honduran news outlet El Espectador HN reported that a cellphone, partially destroyed by fire and believed to be Parisano’s, was recovered in the surrounding area. Investigators are now analyzing security footage and interviewing those who were with him in his final hours.

Suspects Identified — But No Charges

While robbery has been ruled out as a motive, Honduran authorities say they’ve already identified potential suspects. However, they’ve kept the case details under wraps for what they call “strategic reasons.”

The Army’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is now offering a $10,000 reward for credible information leading to an arrest and conviction. Anyone with information is urged to contact:

“One Soldier Lost Is One Too Many”

Parisano’s chain of command at Joint Task Force-Bravo released a statement on his passing, calling his contributions “immeasurable.”

“It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts we acknowledge the passing of Lieutenant Marciano Parisano,” said U.S. Army Col. Daniel Alder, commander of Joint Task Force-Bravo. “He served our unit and mission here at Soto Cano Air Base with dignity, pride and courage.”

“As a UH-60 Black Hawk pilot with the 228th Aviation Regiment, his contribution to our team is immeasurable. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him and serve with him.”

According to JTF-Bravo, Lt. Parisano was off base on a liberty pass at the time of his disappearance — a short period of approved leave intended for rest or recreation.

A Future Taken Too Soon

Just two weeks before his death, Parisano proposed to his fiancé, Alley Singley, on April 19. His friend Brayden Smith shared that they had planned to meet during Memorial Day weekend — a reunion that now turns into mourning.

“He was supposed to introduce me to his fiancée,” Smith said. “Now we’re burying him instead. I’m heartbroken.”

The loss of Lt. Marciano Parisano marks yet another tragedy involving U.S. service members deployed overseas. As investigations continue, those closest to him — family, friends, and fellow soldiers — are left demanding answers and justice.
