A Fort Liberty soldier was among eight individuals arrested earlier this month during a law enforcement sting operation targeting child predators and human traffickers, according to the Wake Forest Police Department.
According to the release, North Carolina’s Wake County Sheriff’s Office and Wake Forest Police Department served several arrest warrants from Nov. 12-15 during a joint operation involving undercover officers and agents posing as juveniles and traffickers.
“The suspects solicited the agents for sex or some other purpose, and meetings were set up at various locations throughout Wake Forest where they were taken into custody,” the release said.
Army Sgt. Alejandro Sean Colon, 30, an active-duty soldier assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 16th Military Police Brigade was one of the individuals taken into custody.
He was arrested on Nov. 14 and according to jail records, was released from Wake County jail two days later after posting $300,000 bail.
According to a military detainer filed with the court, Colon he was transferred to the Fort Liberty Provost Marshal Office after being released from jail.
He faces charges including attempted statutory rape of a child, attempted statutory sexual offense of a child, indecent liberties with a child, and solicitation of a child using a computer.
