This week has brought Fort Leonard Wood into the public spotlight after officials announced they found the body of a soldier the day after she was reported missing.
Sergeant Sarah Rouque, of Ligonier, Indiana, was reported missing after she did not show up to formation on Monday morning.
On Tuesday evening, her body was found in a dumpster adjacent to single soldiers’ quarters but her cause of death is still unknown.

On Thursday evening, Fort Leonard Wood announced a person of interest had been taken into custody in connection to Sergeant Sarah Roque’s death.
The person of interest has yet to be identified or charged.
Sgt. Roque was a bridge crewmember, serving as a Mine Dog Handler with the K9 Detachment, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 5th Engineer Battalion.
According to court documents, obtained by The Salty Soldier, Roque’s battalion had issues with soldier discipline, and one of their soldiers was kicked out of the Army a couple months ago.
PV2 William Kroll, of the 5th Engineer Battalion, was given a bad conduct discharge after a court-martial that took place at Fort Leonard Wood at the end of August.

During his court-martial, he was found guilty of using methamphetamine in December, being drunk and disorderly in May, and going AWOL.
He was accused of throwing a potted plant at another soldier’s vehicle, which caused damage to it, during his drunk and disorderly incident.
He was also accused of lying to an unidentified Sergeant in his battalion about being at the Staff Duty desk four days after his drunk and disorderly incident but this charge was dismissed.
For the charges he was found guilty of he was sentenced to receive a bad conduct discharge and sixty days confinement.
Due to having credits for time already served in confinement he was released after his court-martial on August 19th.
