For those not familiar with all of the Air Force’s jobs, the big “SF” patch worn by some Airmen can be confused for special forces but it is the branch’s military police.
Considering they are the only part of the Air Force designated to ground combat, the USAF Security Forces (SF) are supposed to be some of the most disciplined of their enlisted forces.
They are tasked with defending and protecting all of the Air Force’s military installations.
In 1941, Winston Churchhill saw the importance of defending airfields after the Germans quickly captured a British air base in Greece. He ordered that all airmen be armed and ready “to fight and die in defense of their air fields.”
Shortly after, the United States followed their lead and increased the security of American air bases.
Gen. George C. Marshall, who had a plan to have a force of eight million soldiers by 1942, approved the assignment of 53,299 African-Americans to the Army Air Forces for air base defense.
Over the course of history, they have been known as Military Police (MP), Air Police (AP), and Security Police (SP) but their mission and importance have remained the same.
Just as the Navy has the Marine Corps provide security for the Navy, the Security Forces were created with the same intention.
Sometimes they are even referred to as the “Air Force Infantry,” so when someone in their ranks acts in an unbecoming manner, it is usually a big deal for the Air Force.
Last week, one of their members did just that while on duty “protecting” one of their installations in Texas.
Airman (E-2) Suzana Endolecha posted a video to TikTok to complain about her assigned protective vest being too large.
Many responded to tell her to just do her job of validating the identities of those attempting to enter the base at her assigned post.
“Man js scan my cac card,” one wrote. “Just put the cac scanner in the bag twin,” another chimed in.
Some even pointed out the song she chose to sing during the video.
“Racial slur in uniform is crazy girl,” the wrote.

The song, “TGIF” by Glorilla, features numerous slurs used for African Americans in its lyrics.
Another person even speculated where she was on base when she recorded the video.
“It’s either South Gate or north gate,” they wrote. “Money on north cause South Gate got shit reception.”
Airman Endolecha’s video -a possible security risk- was posted just over a month after an entry point at Joint Base San Antonio was attacked by gunmen.
