An active-duty U.S. Army soldier stationed at Fort Bragg is facing multiple felony child exploitation charges in North Carolina following a months-long Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation that led to his arrest and the seizure of electronic evidence involving minors.

According to court records and sworn affidavits, Aiden Chad Borowicz, 22, was arrested in January 2026 after an undercover operation conducted by the Manteo Police Department’s ICAC Task Force. Borowicz is currently being held at the Dare County Detention Center while facing separate criminal cases in both Dare County and Cumberland County district courts.

Online Solicitation Investigation

The investigation began in November 2025 when ICAC investigators identified Borowicz as a suspect attempting to initiate inappropriate contact online with what he believed to be a 14-year-old girl. Court filings state the communications occurred through an online messaging application and were part of an ongoing undercover investigation.

A warrant issued in Dare County alleges Borowicz attempted to persuade the purported minor to meet him in person for unlawful purposes. Investigators noted Borowicz was 22 years old at the time and that the individual he believed he was communicating with was represented as being under 16 and significantly younger.

Authorities later confirmed the “child” was an undercover law enforcement officer with the Manteo Police Department. Investigators say Borowicz made plans to meet the individual in January 2026.

Borowicz was taken into custody on January 22, 2026, by a joint team consisting of the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division, the FBI, and Manteo Police. He was formally charged in Dare County with Solicitation of a Child by Computer or Electronic Device, a felony under North Carolina law.

Search Warrant and Evidence Seizure

Following his arrest, Fayetteville Police Department ICAC investigators executed a search warrant at Borowicz’s apartment in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

In a sworn affidavit, a Fayetteville Police detective stated that investigators seized Borowicz’s personal cellphone and conducted a forensic examination. The affidavit notes the device belonged exclusively to Borowicz and that no other individuals resided at the residence.

According to the affidavit, investigators identified multiple images involving underage individuals that were downloaded to the device over a several-day period in January 2026.

Additional Felony Charges Filed

As a result of the forensic examination, Borowicz was charged in Cumberland County with 10 counts of Third-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, each a felony offense under North Carolina law.

Charging documents allege Borowicz knowingly possessed visual material involving minors. The charges span multiple counts and form the basis of a separate criminal case pending in Cumberland County district court.

Bond and Court Findings

Borowicz’s bond in Cumberland County was set at $250,000 secured. Court records reflect judicial findings that the charges involve registerable offenses and that the circumstances warranted strict pretrial conditions.

The court also cited a pattern of alleged conduct, referencing the pending solicitation case in Dare County alongside the Cumberland County charges.

Conditions of release prohibit Borowicz from possessing prohibited material, having unsupervised contact with minors, or accessing restricted content. He is also subject to fingerprinting and DNA collection requirements.

Military Status and Ongoing Review

Borowicz is identified in court records as an active-duty U.S. Army soldier assigned to Fort Bragg. As of publication, the Army has not publicly announced any administrative or disciplinary action related to his arrest.

The Salty Soldier is seeking additional information regarding Borowicz’s duty status, unit assignment, and any administrative actions taken by the Army in connection with the case.

Investigators have indicated that additional state or federal charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.

Borowicz is scheduled for upcoming disposition hearings in both Dare County and Cumberland County later this month.

Editor’s note: All allegations described above are drawn from sworn warrants, affidavits, and court filings. Borowicz is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
