Online Persona raises questions over military family claims and collegiate cheer affiliation

An online persona operating under the names Gracie Higgins and Gracie Hungry has drawn attention across social media platforms by sharing personal narratives involving a military family background and collegiate cheerleading, while also directing followers to subscription-based content platforms.

A review of publicly available material, however, found that several of the claims presented to followers could not be independently verified and, in some cases, appear internally inconsistent.

In multiple videos shared publicly, a man identified as the creator’s father is shown wearing U.S. military uniforms from different service branches.

In one video, the individual appears in a woodland camouflage uniform bearing a “MARINES” service tape and a name tape reading “Higgins,” consistent with late-1990s to early-2000s United States Marine Corps attire. In another video, the same individual is depicted wearing a United States Army ACU-pattern uniform alongside a tan military vehicle commonly associated with overseas deployments during the Global War on Terror era.

No explanation is provided regarding whether the individual served in both branches, transferred between services, or whether the footage represents reenactment or archival imagery. No service dates, units, or deployments are identified.

While service members can transition between branches, such histories are typically clarified when military identity is referenced publicly.

The persona also claims affiliation with the University of Florida cheer program. One account biography describes the creator as a “Senior Cheer” participant while also listing “Florida ’30,” implying graduation with the class of 2030 — a timeline inconsistent with senior standing.

A review of the official University of Florida athletics cheerleader roster does not list any individual named Gracie Higgins, Gracie Hungry, or similar variants among current team members. University cheer programs typically maintain publicly accessible rosters and regularly feature participants in official athletics media.

No independent confirmation of participation in the university’s cheer program could be located.

Further complicating verification, an AI companion platform, Kandy.ai, currently hosts a virtual character using the name “Gracie Higgins” with a closely matching appearance to the social media persona.

The platform identifies the character as AI-generated. No disclosure appears on the social media accounts indicating any connection to AI-generated content or the use of AI tools in the creation of posts or videos.

At the time of publication, no independent records could be located confirming:

  • the military service history depicted in the videos
  • the claimed collegiate cheer affiliation
  • or whether the content presented is fully human-generated or digitally assisted

Efforts to verify these claims through publicly available sources were unsuccessful.

This report does not draw conclusions regarding intent or authenticity. Instead, it documents discrepancies between public claims and verifiable records, highlighting the growing challenges audiences face in distinguishing between authentic personal narratives and digitally constructed online personas.

As military service and institutional affiliation carry significant public trust, transparency and disclosure remain important when such identities are invoked online.
