DAYTON, Ohio — Newly obtained police documents and radio transmissions are shedding more light on the harrowing series of events that left three Wright-Patterson Air Force Base personnel dead over the weekend — including a 25-year-old Air Force officer and a married civilian couple.
Investigators now confirm that Jacob Prichard, 34, shot and killed 1st Lt. Jaime Gustitus, 25, inside her Sugarcreek Township condo after forcing his way in early Saturday morning, before taking his own life hours later in West Milton. Police also believe Prichard murdered his wife, 33-year-old Jaymee Prichard, sometime earlier that night and placed her body in the trunk of their car.

Authorities say the violence spanned three counties — Greene, Montgomery, and Miami — in what is now officially being investigated as a double murder-suicide.
911 Call and Police Response
According to newly obtained search warrants and radio traffic, a neighbor on Honey Tree Place called 911 around 2 a.m. Saturday to report a man with a gun banging on a door and attempting to break into the upstairs condo.
“The glass door shattered. I think they shattered her door,” the caller said. “I opened up my back door, and he said he had a gun to get back at my house. And he hopped off their patio and left.”
Responding Sugarcreek Township officers arrived at the scene, where they discovered a ladder leading up to a second-floor balcony and a broken screen door. Officers reportedly attempted to contact anyone inside, left a message, and departed around 3:30 a.m.
Police later returned around 7 a.m., and according to a Greene County search warrant, officers “looked into the residence and saw a female lying on a bed inside with blood on her face and not responding.” When they entered to provide aid, 1st Lt. Gustitus was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Greene County coroner was called to the scene at 10:41 a.m.
Evidence collected included a broken screen with a possible bullet hole, two live bullets, and five fired cartridge casings, indicating that Prichard likely fired between five and seven rounds inside the condo.
Police believe Prichard left the Sugarcreek scene and later parked his vehicle at the West Milton Municipal building around 4 a.m., where he shot himself. Prior to doing so, investigators say he opened the trunk of the car so that officers who found him would immediately discover his wife’s body.
West Milton Police Chief Doyle Wright confirmed that the couple’s children were later located and are safe.
“We’re still trying to determine exactly where Jaymee was killed,” Wright said, noting that the Prichards owned multiple vehicles used during the incident.
Authorities have not yet disclosed a motive.
The Victims
1st Lt. Jaime Gustitus served as an Operations Research Analyst at the 711th Human Performance Wing, part of the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

A 2022 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, Gustitus earned a Master of Science in Operations Research from the Air Force Institute of Technology. She also completed student-pilot training in Columbus, Mississippi, and held a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
Jaymee Prichard, 33, worked within the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Wright-Patt, while her husband Jacob was an Acquisition Project Manager in AFRL’s Sensors Directorate — a position responsible for managing advanced research programs supporting U.S. air dominance.
Multiple agencies including the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI), Miami County Sheriff’s Office, and Sugarcreek Township Police are involved in the investigation of their deaths.
In a previous statement, Lt. Gen. Linda Hurry, Deputy Commander of Air Force Materiel Command, expressed condolences on behalf of the Air Force:
“We are deeply saddened by this tragic event, and our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones affected. We stand with them as they navigate this unimaginable pain.”
The Air Force has since made grief counseling and support services available to all affected personnel through the Employee Assistance Program, Casualty Assistance Office, and Base Chaplain Services.
Officials have not confirmed why Prichard targeted 1st Lt. Gustitus or what led to the killings. The Sugarcreek Township Police Department has not yet released full reports from the initial 911 call, and the Air Force Office of Special Investigations continues to assist with evidence analysis.
Police Chief Mike Brown said it will likely be several more days before reports are made public.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Lt. Jason Moore of the Miami County Sheriff’s Office at 937-440-6085 ext. 3991.
