FORT LEE, Va. — A senior Army noncommissioned officer was convicted at a special court-martial after admitting he failed to properly handle a sexual harassment complaint involving two junior Soldiers in a training unit and later made false statements to senior leaders.
Sgt. 1st Class Jared A. Kristoff, assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, U.S. Army Combined Arms Support Command, pleaded guilty March 18, 2026, before a military judge at Fort Lee.
He was convicted of five specifications of dereliction of duty and one specification of making a false official statement in violation of Articles 92 and 107 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
The case involved a complaint within the 23rd Quartermaster Brigade, an Advanced Individual Training unit responsible for training Soldiers in logistics and support specialties.
According to court records, the misconduct began in January 2025 when a formal sexual harassment complaint was made. Between Jan. 16 and Jan. 24, Kristoff failed to notify a senior officer and did not ensure the complaint was properly entered into the Army’s reporting system or documented.
He also failed to classify the complaint as formal between Feb. 7 and Feb. 25, 2025, and did not disclose the existence of a written statement related to the case between January and July 2025.
On Jan. 24, 2025, Kristoff falsely told a senior officer the complaint had been filed as informal. On May 1, he falsely stated that a drill sergeant had been notified to handle the situation.
This is only part of the story. The full report—including additional details and context from court documents—is available exclusively on The Salty Soldier Uncensored.
Additional false statements were made July 10, 2025, when Kristoff denied the existence of a written statement and denied knowledge of alleged physical contact between Soldiers, according to court records.
Some false statement and obstruction-related charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Kristoff was sentenced to reduction in rank from E-7 to E-4 and 10 days confinement. No punitive discharge was imposed.
