FORT McNAIR, Va. — A U.S. Army military police officer assigned to Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall has been acquitted of all charges at a General Court-Martial held at Fort McNair.
According to a statement provided to The Salty Soldier by the U.S. Army Office of Special Trial Counsel, the court-martial in United States v. PFC Bobby R. Ferris concluded on February 20, 2026, in Washington, D.C.
PFC Bobby R. Ferris, 36, was found not guilty of all charges by a military judge.
Specifically, Ferris was acquitted of two specifications of sexual assault and one specification of abusive sexual contact under Article 120 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
Ferris is assigned to the 289th Military Police Company, 4th Battalion, 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), located at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, Virginia.
The charges stemmed from allegations involving conduct said to have occurred in July 2024. The case was referred to a General Court-Martial under the authority of the U.S. Army Military District of Washington. Ferris was arraigned in April 2025 and entered pleas of not guilty.
Following trial proceedings held from February 17 through February 20, 2026, the military judge returned findings of not guilty on all specifications.
The Army has not released additional details regarding the judge’s findings or the underlying reasoning for the acquittal.
As with all military justice proceedings, an accused service member is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. In this case, the court determined the government did not meet that burden.
