Army soldier sentenced in civilian court as other than honorable discharge pending

FORT EUSTIS, Va. — A 32-year-old soldier assigned to Fort Eustis has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to coercion and enticement of a minor, according to court records in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Brady Beck Fant was sentenced following an investigation that began after the North Texas Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force identified him during an online operation targeting child exploitation offenses.

According to federal prosecutors, Fant used social media platforms to engage in sexually explicit conversations with minor girls. Court documents state that he received sexually explicit images and videos from victims and sent sexually explicit material of himself to at least one minor.

Investigators later seized Fant’s electronic devices, where they discovered additional child sexual abuse material (CSAM), according to charging documents.

The case was investigated by the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division Washington Field Office. The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Devon E.A. Heath of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Fant was sentenced during a hearing held in Norfolk federal court. As of the most recent docket entry, sentencing was scheduled before U.S. District Judge Jamar Walker in Courtroom 5.

Army officials confirmed that Fant is pending an Other Than Honorable discharge from the service.

A search of Army court-martial dockets does not reflect any military court-martial proceedings against Fant, indicating the case was handled entirely through the federal civilian justice system rather than under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Fant, age 32, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service in Norfolk and booked on September 10, 2025, on a federal felony charge related to prisoner processing following conviction.

The case underscores the continued collaboration between military investigators and federal law enforcement agencies in prosecuting crimes involving the online exploitation of children.

Fant remains in federal custody to serve his 10-year sentence.
