A 19-year-old U.S. Army soldier stationed at Fort Carson is facing multiple felony charges after Colorado prosecutors alleged he kidnapped and sexually assaulted a woman during a late-night attack near a popular public park in Colorado Springs.

Pvt. Caden Michael Meade, a mechanic assigned to an artillery unit within the 4th Infantry Division, was arrested following an investigation by the Colorado Springs Police Department. Court records show Meade is charged with second-degree kidnapping, sexual assault, menacing, assault, false imprisonment, and a crime-of-violence sentence enhancer related to the alleged use of a knife.

According to a sworn probable-cause affidavit, the incident began in the early morning hours of July 8, 2025, at Quail Lake Park, located several miles north of Fort Carson. Investigators allege the victim had gone to her vehicle alone when she was confronted by a man who forced her to the ground and threatened her with a knife.

Witnesses told police they heard a woman screaming and observed a dark pickup truck rapidly leaving the area moments later. Officers responding to the scene found personal items belonging to the victim in the parking lot, including her jacket and keys.

Investigators allege the suspect forced the woman into his pickup truck and drove her away from the park. The woman later reported to police that she was threatened with a weapon and feared for her life during the incident.

She was eventually able to exit the vehicle and seek help. Officers located her at a nearby hotel, where they observed visible injuries and transported her to a hospital for medical evaluation and forensic examination.

Detectives used city surveillance footage, school security cameras, and license-plate data to identify a pickup truck believed to be involved. According to court records, investigators also coordinated with Army Criminal Investigation Division agents, who confirmed the vehicle passed through Fort Carson’s Gate 1 shortly after the alleged assault.

Law-enforcement officials later detained Meade and conducted a recorded interview. Court documents state that Meade ultimately admitted to abducting the woman and engaging in sexual acts without her consent.

In seeking a high bond, detectives told the court the alleged offense involved threats, movement of the victim, and use of a deadly weapon, arguing that Meade poses a serious risk to public safety if released.

Prosecutors later added a crime-of-violence sentence enhancer, which increases potential penalties if Meade is convicted. The court also issued a mandatory protection order, prohibiting Meade from contacting the victim and restricting access to her personal information due to safety concerns.

Meade remains in custody in El Paso County as the case proceeds in Colorado’s Fourth Judicial District Court. Court filings show the matter is scheduled for further hearings, and prosecutors have endorsed numerous law-enforcement witnesses.

As with all criminal cases, Meade is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
