Posts on social media claim to reveal classified information about the US bombing of Iran

Over the past few days, a wave of social media posts across TikTok, Threads, and X (formerly Twitter) have identified Capt. Lauren Kram as one of the pilots who took part in this month’s B-2 stealth bomber strikes over Iran — a historic and high-risk mission shrouded in secrecy.

The claim, often accompanied by a short video clip, reads:

“Meet Capt. Lauren Kram. She was in the cockpit of one of the B-2 bombers that flew over Iran. We are so back 🇺🇸”

The footage circulating isn’t new, and it certainly doesn’t mention Iran. In fact, the interview with Capt. Kram was recorded nearly three years ago, during the Aerospace Valley Air Show (AVAS) at Edwards Air Force Base in California on October 11, 2022. The clip shows Capt. Kram discussing her journey to becoming a B-2 pilot — long before any current operations in Iran were on the horizon.

So why is it being passed around now?

The Real Footage — and the Real Confusion

The video, produced by the 412th Test Wing Public Affairs office, features Kram talking about her career path as a Aeromedical Evacuation (AE) pilot to becoming a test pilot and the importance of representation for young women in aviation.

Despite this, people are using the footage to support claims she flew one of the B-2s over Iran this month, even though there has been no official confirmation or credible evidence to support that.

What We Do Know: Operation Midnight Hammer

What’s not up for debate is that the U.S. Air Force recently carried out one of the most daring bomber missions in recent memory.

According to reports from FlightGlobal and confirmed in official USAF press materials, seven B-2 Spirit stealth bombers from the 509th Bomb Wing at Whiteman Air Force Base conducted nonstop strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites, as part of Operation Midnight Hammer. The mission required multiple aerial refuelings and lasted over 37 hours round-trip — a true showcase of American airpower and global reach.

Footage released by the Air Force shows several B-2s taxiing and taking off under night vision, and later returning in daylight — but the identities of the pilots remain completely unconfirmed. No names. No faces. No “leaks.” Just speculation.

Who Is Capt. Lauren Kram?

While it’s unlikely she was interviewed after flying a classified strike, it is confirmed that Kram is one of just 10 women in history to qualify as a B-2 pilot. She completed her Initial Qualification Training (IQT) at Whiteman AFB in 2019, a rigorous six-month program involving hundreds of academic hours, simulator runs, and live flights.

In the years since, she has been assigned to Edwards Air Force Base, working under the 412th Test Wing, which handles advanced flight testing and evaluation. As of 2024, she was still with the test wing, according to official Air Force materials.

While it’s technically possible for a test pilot to rotate back into a combat assignment, there is no public evidence that she returned to the 509th Bomb Wing for this mission.

The Power — and Risk — of Viral Speculation

Social media is often quick to create heroes, but slower to verify facts. In this case, Capt. Kram’s previous public appearances are being recirculated to fill the vacuum of information surrounding the Iran strike.

While the Air Force has a policy of not disclosing aircrew identities for ongoing operations — especially those involving strategic assets like the B-2 — that hasn’t stopped the internet from connecting the dots, whether accurately or not.

And to be clear: there is nothing in old videos of her that mention Iran or any classified mission, because they were filmed before any such operation had taken place.

Bottom Line

Was Capt. Lauren Kram involved in the Iran mission? Maybe.
Has the Air Force confirmed it? No.
Are people online passing around years-old videos and calling it proof? Absolutely.

Until official sources confirm who flew those seven stealth bombers, it’s just another case of viral speculation — one that says more about how we process military operations online than it does about the pilots themselves.
