Marine veteran says she still uses her uniform because it gives back to veterans

A US Marine veteran claims she left the Marine Corps as a junior non-commissioned officer to pursue a career of “giving back to veterans.”

In an essay that was edited and reduced in length, she claimed her content career began with just films of her and her boyfriend but evolved into bringing in others to work with them.

“One of the biggest reasons I brought the Marines into my content was to watch out for veterans,” she said. “Suicide rates are way too high in the military community. I do a lot of what we call ‘buddy checks,’ asking if people are OK. Everybody needs a friend.”

She admitted leaving the Marine Corps was not her first choice but an injury to her back led to her being medically retired.

“My whole life revolved around the Marine Corps. I don’t talk about my deployment overseas, but it was a nomad’s existence,” she said. “In the US, I went from North Carolina to Mississippi, California to Arizona.”

“I loved the excitement of handling weapons,” she added. “Shooting rifles and pistols was awesome. Grenade launchers were my favorite. You just point at your target, and they do the rest.”

She said it is very easy for her to play the part of being back in the Marine Corps and uses her experience to create her military-themed content, which includes a video with two Army veterans.
